VHF or Mobile phone when paddling? SUP, Kayak etc?

All coastal water users should consider what means of communication they leave the shore with, whether they intend to stay in close proximity or not. Whether the choice is a mobile phone (in a waterproof pouch), VHF and/or flares, it is once again apparent from the recent RNLI rescue detailed below why something so simple could save your life.

Do remember you are legally required to hold a licence to operate a VHF - you can complete an online VHF course here.
