RYA Advanced Powerboat Course


This 2 day & 1 night course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat in most conditions in day time and at night.

Pre-requisites:

Minimum age: 17

Prior knowledge: A high level of practical boat handling skills (intermediate course level); theory knowledge to RYA Yachtmaster Theory level



Course content:

  • Preparation for sea
  • Boat handling (incl. rough water)
  • Passage making, Pilotage
  • Meterology
  • Rules of the road (IRPCS)
  • Use of engines
  • Emergency situations
  • Undertaking searches
  • Night cruising

Engine: Yamaha outboard

Info: MCA coded Cat 3(R) for day and night operations
