Converting from RYA Yachtmaster Instructor (Power) to RYA Powerboat Instructor
An RYA Yachtmaster Instructor (Power) may attend a one-day assessment / conversion course to gain the RYA Powerboat Instructor certificate.
The assessment will be carried out by a Powerboat Trainer and does not require moderation.
Candidates will be tested on their boat handling skills, knowledge of the Powerboat scheme and should be familiar with the current syllabus in the Powerboat logbook G20. The emphasis of the course is to adapt the knowledge and teaching style of the candidate to the powerboat scheme and contain the following elements:

What you gain:
Successful candidates will be able to teach up to RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate. If the instructor also holds the Safety Boat Certificate, they may also teach the Safety Boat Course.
Unsuccessful candidates may be given an action plan to complete before reassessment or be advised to take the full three day powerboat instructor course.
RYA Advanced Powerboat instructor:
There is no direct entry to RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor. This can only be attained through the normal process - see more information here.
