About the Course:
The STCW Convention and Code as amended by the Manila amendments (2010) contains new requirements regarding security training. Anyone working on board, or frequenting a ship to which the ISPS
Code applies must possess at a minimum, the Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA) certification. This fully Online PSA Course provides the learner with the relevant Knowledge, Understanding
& Proficiency (KUP). The course lasts approximately four (4) hours.
Course Approving Body:
The fully Online (STCW ISPS) Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA) Course is fully approved by the UK Department for Transport (DfT) Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) and
certified under our Strategic Partner, Executive Security & Training Services Limited (ESTS International), a fully MCA Approved Course Provider.
Courses also provide an understanding of the three Maritime Security Levels in relations to the ISPS Code. The Proficiency in Security Awareness Course is the minimum security training
requirement for crew members, or anyone working on, or frequenting vessels regularly. Under the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB), the three key course Learning Outcomes of this course are:
The learner is aware of the importance of ship security and the roles of those
involved in its provision.
The learner is aware of the requirements and the measures to maintain ship
The learner is able to recognise and report a security threat.
When signing up to take this online PSA Course, learners will be required to submit evidence of their identification via an online form at the beginning of the course. You will also be
required to submit a scanned upload of your official identification (current in-date passport / seaman’s book / drivers licence / certificate of competency / or other official
identification). These requirements are in-line with the UK DfT Maritime & Coastguard Agency, and the information is also used for your certificate. Please ensure that you have read

The course is approved by the United Kingdom Department for Transport (DfT) Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) under Regulation VI/6, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/6, paragraphs 4 of the STCW
Convention and Code 1978, as amended. Course certificate scans will be delivered via email to the email address you have provided to us on successful completion of the course. If
